| Thank you for visiting our site
and reading our confidentiality policy. Please note that our main
site (www.mrnf.gouv.qc.ca) does not use cookies. Most of our transactional
sites do, however, use them to facilitate navigation. No personal
information is collected unless you give prior consent.
Information transmitted automatically between computers cannot
be used to identify you personally. It is collected only because
of the technological demands of Internet navigation and is used
exclusively for statistical purposes.
You should be aware that, as soon as you access the Department’s
site, an exchange of information takes place automatically, without
the need for action on your part, between your computer and the
Department’s server.The information exchanged cannot be used
to identify you personally, and consists in:
- The name of the Internet domain (e.g. "xcompagnie.com"
if you use a private Internet access account, or "université.edu"
if your access is via a university), along with the IP address
(an IP address is a number assigned automatically to your computer
by your Internet access supplier each time you connect to the
Internet) used to access the site;
- The type of browser and operating system used to access the
site;
- The date and time of access to the site;
- The pages visited; and
- If you came to our site from another site, the address of the
other site (referring site).
This exchange of information is needed to ensure that the file
sent to you by the server is compatible with the computer equipment
you are using. The government also keeps information on the number
of visitors, the most frequently visited pages, the technology used
by the Department’s clients, referring sites and the country
of origin of visitors.
In compliance with the Act respecting access to documents held
by public bodies and the protection of personal information, , a
department or agency that asks you for personal information must
first make sure such information is actually necessary (section 64).
It must also identify itself and inform you (excerpt from section 65):
- "the name and address of the public body on whose behalf
the information is being collected;
- of the use to which the information will be put;
- of the categories of persons who will have access to the information;
- of the fact that a reply is obligatory, or that it is optional;
- of the consequences for the person concerned or, as the case
may be, for the third person, in the case of a refusal to reply;
- of the rights of access and correction provided by law."
If you elect to provide us with personal information – by
e-mail or by completing a form and submitting it via our site –
we use only that part of the information required to answer your
message and provide follow-up. Electronic messages are covered by
the same confidentiality measures as conventional mail.
Personal information sent to us is transmitted to other government
agencies only if your request is intended for that agency or if
so required by law.
In no case is the information used to draw up user profiles, and
it is never passed on to private organizations.
Our site contains links to the sites of other gouvernement du Québec agencies and some private organizations. When you leave
the site of the Department, any information that may be exchanged
with the new organization’s server is subject to that organization’s
confidentiality policy, if any, and not to the Department’s
policy.
If you have comments or question, you can use the "Contact
Us" button at any time. It appears on every page of our Web
