The Department offers a range of products and services to individuals and companies alike. We prepare draft legislation, regulations and standards, and circulate information concerning access to public land and the use of natural resources.
Among other things, we are responsible for:
Granting public land occupation rights (vacation leases) and water power usage rights;
Issuing authorizations and permits (hunting and fishing, forestry, etc.);
Granting forestry and mineral rights;
Overseeing the registration and publication of information concerning public and private land;
Offering a range of assistance programs, advisory services and educational programs;
Producing and circulating theme-based maps and data banks;
Publishing applied research and development findings, as well as guides and technical tools.
