Consulting Québec's Online Land Register
- First go to www.registrefoncier.gouv.qc.ca.
- Make sure you have the appropriate applications for the online consultation function. To install the applications free of charge, please click on Installez les logiciels requis (Install the applications) on the left-hand side of the screen on the Online Land Register homepage. (If you are already on the page, click on
in the toolbar).
- Next, enter your user code. If you do not have a user code, click on Client qui ne possède pas de code d’utilisateur (Client with no user code) at the bottom of the page. You will be asked to provide the necessary information and enter your credit card number.
Please note that to access the documents published in the Land Register, you must know the lot number and the name of the cadastre in which the property is located. You can obtain this information from the online assessment rolls or by contacting the municipality in question.
Consulting the Index of Immovables
On the Homepage, click on Consulter (Consult) in the orange strip at the top of the screen. Select Index des immeubles (Index of Immovables) in the Sélectionner un produit / service (Select a product/service) window. You must enter the exact cadastral designation, i.e.:
- The land registration division;
- The cadastre;
- The lot number;
- The secondary designation, if any.
Click on Soumettre (Submit) at the bottom of the page to access the record you want. You will be asked to confirm the $1.00 fee. The Informatisé (Computerized) index will appear. If you want to access information that was published before the records were computerized, click on Numérisé (Digitized) in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. You can then click on Numérisé seulement (Digitized only) to expand the Index of Immovables. To consult a deed from the index, enter the name of the land registration division and the number of the deed at the top of the screen, underneath the orange strip.
Search by Publication Number
- If you know the document publication number, click on Consulter (Consult) in the orange strip at the top of the screen.
- Select Acte, radiation, avis d'adresse (Deed, cancellation, notice of address) from the Sélectionner un produit / service (Select a product/service) window.
- Enter the required land registration division and deed publication number.
- Click on Rechercher (Search) at the bottom of the page. You will be asked to confirm the $1.00 fee. You may also click on Document seulement (Document only) to expand the document .
- There is no additional fee for printing documents.
To print a digitized document, click on the printer icon in the toolbar, just above the deed or index. To print a computerized document click on "Imprimer" (print).
- If you want to perform a new search, click on Consulter (Consult) in the orange strip at the top of the page and select the desired product from the list.
