Taking part in a random draw

How is the random draw held?

The draw will take place electronically under the supervision of an external auditor in the presence of witnesses. Sépaq manages the registration and draw.

How will I know if I was selected?

You will be informed of the rank you obtained in the draw by letter or email, according to the registration method chosen: within 48 hours for online registration and a notice will be send within five business days for mail registration.

Then, based on your rank, you will receive by mail or email an invitation from MRC informing you of the location and date of the plot allocation. The number of invitations will be determined by the number of lots available.

For example: if you were in the 10th position in a draw of 15 lots, you will receive a letter inviting you to participate in the lot allocation in the region in question. The farther down the list you are for lots available, the less likely it is that you will receive an invitation letter. Furthermore, if you were 35th in a draw of 15 lots, at least twenty (20) people with a higher rank must decline their right to choose a lot in order for you to receive an invitation to participate to the lot allocation.

Are there still any cottage plots available on public land, and if so, how can I get a list of plots?

To obtain the list of plots available in upcoming draws, you should frequently look at the Private Vacation Lots offered by Random Draw.

To find out which cottage plots are available on a first come, first served basis in your region, contact the nearest Department service point.

What happens to plots that are not allocated in a draw?

The plots that are not allocated in a draw are made available for sale or lease on a first come, first served basis. To find out how to apply for one of these lots, see: Making a request.

What do I have to do to change the name on a lease?

You have to complete a lease transfer notice.
